About

The Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Canal is a magnificent feat of industrial engineering and a UNESCO World Heritage site in North East Wales. Completed in 1805 by Thomas Telford and William Jessop, the "Stream in the Sky" carries the Llangollen Canal 126 feet above the River Dee in a spectacular cast-iron trough. As the longest and highest aqueduct in Britain, it represents a pinnacle of the Industrial Revolution. It remains a premier social and recreational destination for narrowboat travelers and walkers, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Dee Valley and a profound look at the ingenuity that transformed the British landscape.
