About

A charming heritage experience rooted in the industrial heart of East Shropshire, tracing an evocative route along a preserved section of the former GWR Wellington to Craven Arms line. Featuring an immersive journey through the original mid-Victorian Horsehay tunnel, this atmospheric railway operates both steam and vintage diesel services that capture the pioneering spirit of the region’s historic coalfields and ironworks.

Heritage

The Ironbridge Link

The Telford Steam Railway operates on a historic portion of the old GWR Wellington to Craven Arms branch line. Its base at Horsehay was once a critical part of the industrial landscape of the East Shropshire coalfield, located just a stone's throw from the birthplace of the industrial world at Ironbridge. Today, the railway preserves the atmosphere of a local branch line while moving towards its long-term goal of reconnecting with Ironbridge.
