Railway History

The Ironbridge Link

The Telford Steam Railway operates on a historic portion of the old GWR Wellington to Craven Arms branch line. Its base at Horsehay was once a critical part of the industrial landscape of the East Shropshire coalfield, located just a stone's throw from the birthplace of the industrial world at Ironbridge. Today, the railway preserves the atmosphere of a local branch line while moving towards its long-term goal of reconnecting with Ironbridge.
