About

Journey along the banks of the majestic River Dee on the Llangollen Railway—the only standard-gauge heritage line in North Wales. Rebuilt from the ruins of a closed Ruabon-to-Barmouth route, the 10-mile line winds through the Dee Valley, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This premier Great Western Railway (GWR) restoration provides an atmospheric steam-hauled corridor from the bustling town of Llangollen to the historic terminal at Corwen, echoing the golden age of Victorian rail travel.

Heritage

The Great Western Heritage

The Llangollen Railway is a beautifully restored section of the former Ruabon to Barmouth line. As the only standard-gauge heritage railway in North Wales, it preserves the classic Great Western Railway (GWR) atmosphere. The line winds through the Dee Valley, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and its meticulously restored stations offer a journey back to the golden age of steam travel.
