About

Beaumaris Castle is a masterpiece of medieval military architecture, often described as the most "technically perfect" castle in Britain. Built by Edward I on the Isle of Anglesey as part of his "Iron Ring" in Wales, it features a unique "concentric" design with layers of walls and towers that create a symmetrical, formidable stronghold. Although the castle was never fully finished, its soaring towers and massive gatehouses surrounded by a water-filled moat demonstrate the peak of 13th-century defensive engineering. It remains a significant social and historical destination, offering walking tours that provide an immersive look at the power and scale of medieval statecraft.
