Winchester Cathedral

Winchester Cathedral is one of the largest and most magnificent cathedrals in Europe, with a history that spans back to the 7th century. The current building, begun in 1079, is a masterpiece of Romanesque and Gothic architecture, featuring the longest nave in Europe. It is the final resting place of several early English kings and the legendary novelist Jane Austen. The cathedral is also famous for its stunning "Great Screen" and its rare medieval stained glass. It remains a vital spiritual and cultural anchor for the city, offering a grand and peaceful social sanctuary that tells the epic story of England’s religious and royal heritage across the millennia.
