About the Venue

Whitby Harbour

Whitby Harbour is the iconic heart of this ancient North Yorkshire fishing town, framed by the dramatic ruins of Whitby Abbey on the clifftop above and the swing bridge connecting the old town to the west cliff. The harbour has been a working port for over a thousand years, and its colourful boats, smoking kippers, and salty breezes give it an atmosphere that is entirely its own. The quayside is lined with independent shops, seafood restaurants, and the famous Magpie Café — consistently rated among the best fish and chip establishments in England. Throughout the year the harbour hosts major events including the world-famous Whitby Goth Weekend, the Fish & Ships maritime festival, and the Folk Week celebrations that draw visitors from across the country.
